Due to the fluctuating energy gain from renewable energies, storage of surplus energy makes becomes more useful in the context of “Power to X”. In particular, the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Electrolysis is used to cushion generation peaks and to provide hydrogen at a later date.
